Happy birthday,
Aya.
I couldn't fit all the ways I love you into a gift box. So I made you a little place on the internet instead. It comes with a lot of love, a few embarrassing feelings, and a couple of things that are very us.
From Saudi Arabia to Morocco, with all my heart.
For my Aya. My favourite person. ♡
I wish I could be there for this. Not just to give you your gift or tell you happy birthday, but to see your face when you smile, pull you into a hug, kiss your forehead, and keep you close for a little longer than necessary. Okay, a LOT longer than necessary. You know me.
Sometimes “I love you” feels like such a small sentence for what I feel for you. It sounds like it should be enough, but then I look at you and my heart does that ridiculous little skip, and suddenly the words feel nowhere near big enough. So, naturally, I came up with “I potato you.” It still makes me smile that we can turn love into something this ridiculous.
And the truth is, Aya, I am so deeply and hopelessly in love with you. I don't think you fully understand it. I can look at you and feel two things at once: my heart racing because you're so beautiful to me, and this quiet feeling of being home. How can someone make me feel butterflies and peace at the same time? How are you even real? This feels suspicious, honestly.
But it isn't only how beautiful you are. It's your heart. Your kindness, your sensitivity, the way you can be empathetic and care about what other people feel. It's your playful side, your dramatic little moments, your softness, your stubbornness, and all the pieces that make you unmistakably you. I love the whole person, not just the easy-to-love parts. You don't have to be cheerful every day or have the right words for everything. You can be messy, sad, silly, quiet, emotional, or completely chaotic. I want to know you in all those moments, too.
And if you ever wonder how much you mean to me, I wish you could borrow my eyes for a minute. Maybe then you'd understand why I can stare at you and feel like I'm looking at my future. When I look into your eyes, I don't just see the girl I'm hopelessly in love with right now. I see all the ordinary days I want with you. The laughter, the conversations, the hugs we won't have to end because a call is over, the silly arguments about absolutely nothing, the quiet moments where just being beside you is enough. I see the person I want to keep choosing as life happens.
I can't make the distance disappear with a birthday website. Believe me, if that were an option, this page would have been replaced by me teleporting straight to you. But until I can be there in person, I wanted to leave you something you can return to: a small reminder that on the other side of this distance is someone who adores you, who notices you, who wants to understand you, and who is so, so glad that you exist.
I hope this year is gentle with your heart. I hope you see more of the beautiful things in yourself that I see so clearly. I hope you laugh until your cheeks hurt, feel appreciated in ways that reach you, and have so many reasons to be proud of the person you are. And I hope I get to be there for a lot of it — cheering for you, annoying you, loving you, and reminding you that you are someone's favourite person in this entire world.
Happy birthday, my beautiful girl. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being my Aya. And thank you for being the person who makes even the silliest little things feel like ours.
I love you. I choose you. And when I look at you, I see home — and I see my future.
Always yours,
your very lucky boyfriend. ♡
If you cried, I will lovingly deny being responsible. if you didn't, keep scrolling princess I'm sure that'll do the trick😙
If you could see yourself through my eyes…
There are things about you I wish I could gently place in your hands so you could keep them for the days you forget.
Little things that are so us 🍅
And yes, “I potato you” is a completely separate level of nonsense. I stand by it. ♡
For the versions of us we haven't met yet. 💙💕
Aya, I wrote these from the present — from the version of Ahmed who is still counting the distance in calls, missing you through a screen, and hoping we get to live all these little dreams. Open each one when that day arrives. Read it together if you can. And future Ahmed: please don't pretend you came up with all this romance by yourself. Current Ahmed did the emotional labour. ♡
Baby, I keep trying to imagine what it will feel like to see you and know I don't have to say goodbye through a screen. I wonder if I'll act normal for even five minutes. Honestly, future me is probably going to forget every sentence he's ever learned, so please be kind to him. If he just stares at you smiling like an idiot, that's me finally getting to see the person I've missed in 3D. Please take a picture of us. If Ahmed says “I don't need pictures,” he is lying because he will want to look at them approximately 900 times. I hope you feel safe, adored, and very, very hugged. I can't wait for you to meet the version of me who gets to hold your hand for real. — Current Ahmed 💙
If you're reading this on graduation day, look at you, baby. I hope you're proud of yourself — not just for finishing, but for every difficult day you pushed through when nobody could see how much effort it took. I wish I could be beside you right now, fixing your outfit, taking too many pictures, and telling everyone who'll listen how proud I am. Future Ahmed, your assignment is simple: celebrate this girl properly. No lazy “congrats babe” text and thinking you're done. Bring the enthusiasm. Current Ahmed has set expectations embarrassingly high. Aya, I hope you look around at everything you've achieved and feel even a fraction of the pride I already feel for you. ♡
So, baby, this is the chapter we used to talk about while college still took up so much of our lives. I hope we're building a life that makes room for both of our dreams, not asking either of us to become smaller to fit the other's plans. I hope we still tell each other the truth, make each other laugh on stressful days, and remember we're partners, not opponents. Also, please check that future Ahmed knows where important documents are and has eaten an actual meal today. I love him, but I know him. Aya, keep chasing the things that make you feel alive. I'll be cheering for you from right beside you now, if the universe has finally done its job. 💙
I don't know the exact place, the exact words, or whether I'll manage to look composed. Knowing me, I may have rehearsed a beautiful speech and then completely forgotten it the second I see your face. But I hope the important part is clear: I'm asking you because I want to keep choosing you in the real, ordinary, unfiltered parts of life. I want the laughter, the difficult conversations, the grocery lists, the celebrations, and the quiet evenings when nothing special happens except that we're together. If you're reading this after saying yes, baby, please give current Ahmed a moment of credit for dreaming this far ahead. And future Ahmed: do not mess up the ring size. I'm begging you. ♡
Baby, I need you to confirm that we are still honouring our very important wedding-night agreement: absolutely no sex. Just kisses, hugs, cuddles, every snack we can get our hands on, and being snuggled up together watching movies until we fall asleep in each other’s arms. That is the plan. That is the dream. I want to spend our first night as a married couple being ridiculously cozy, stealing kisses during the movie, arguing about what snack to open next, and pretending we’re watching while one of us falls asleep halfway through. Future Ahmed: do NOT ruin this by saying “let’s just watch one more” at 3 a.m. and then choosing a three-hour film. Also, remember the snacks. This is a legally binding romance agreement. Aya, I hope that when this night finally comes, you feel safe, adored, sleepy, full of snacks, and so happy that we get to fall asleep together with nowhere else to be. I can’t wait, babygirl. 💙💕
BABYGIRL. YOU’RE PREGNANT?! 😭💙 First of all, come here. You’re getting the longest hug of your life, followed by approximately one million questions, several kisses, and me looking at you like, “Wait… we’re actually doing this?” I already know you’re going to be the kindest, most loving mum, because I’ve seen how much heart you put into the people you love. But I also know I’m about to become your personal snack-distribution service. Craving something at an unreasonable hour? I’m on it. Want a very specific food that is somehow nowhere in the house? Future Ahmed will be putting on shoes and acting like this is a top-secret mission. If you change your mind three bites in, I will simply accept my fate. If you cry because an advert is emotional, I will hug you first and ask questions never. And if you tell me I’m being annoying, I’ll remind you that you chose me — then immediately ask if you need water, a pillow, a snack, or all three. 😭 I hope you feel cared for, listened to, and never alone in this. We’ll learn as we go, laugh at ourselves, and be a team. Future Ahmed: please read the room, do your share without needing a medal, and never say “you’re hormonal” unless you want to be sleeping on the sofa. Aya, if we reach this chapter, I hope I’m making you feel as loved as you deserve, and I hope we still find little moments to laugh together in the middle of all the newness. I love you, baby. You’ve got this — and I’ve got you. ♡
I wonder what our place will look like. I imagine little routines, your things next to mine, something cooking, your voice coming from another room, and me walking in just to steal a hug when you're busy. It probably won't always be tidy. Future Ahmed may claim he was “about to clean that,” which is a phrase I would like you to treat with healthy suspicion. But I hope our home feels like somewhere both of us can exhale. Somewhere kindness isn't saved for special occasions, apologies come when they're needed, and we laugh often enough that the neighbours might wonder what's going on. I can't wait for ordinary life with you, Aya. That's the dream. ♡
If this becomes part of our story, I hope we meet it as a team. I imagine how much of your kindness and empathy a little person might inherit, and how much I'd want them to know that tenderness is strength. I hope we give them patience, silly stories, a safe place to ask questions, and a home where love is something they see in the way we treat each other. Future Ahmed: please do not teach the child every terrible joke you know. Leave at least three for me to discover later. Aya, if we ever reach this chapter, I hope we look at each other in the middle of the chaos and remember the two people who once missed each other across countries and dared to imagine this. No pressure on what our future has to look like — just love for whatever shape it takes. ♡
If we're reading this years from now, come closer to me for a second. I hope we still know how to make each other laugh, still flirt when nobody asked us to, and still notice the small things. I hope you still feel seen by me, not because I can read your mind, but because I keep asking, listening, and learning you. Please remember this version of me: the guy who made a whole website because a regular birthday message didn't feel big enough for what he felt. Future Ahmed, if you're getting smug about how romantic you are now, remember that past you was doing his best with HTML and feelings. Aya, you are not just my favourite future. You are my only future. I meant it then, and I hope I keep showing you what it means. 💙
Baby, if things are hard right now, I hope you remember that we never needed a perfect life to love each other. We only needed honesty, effort, patience, and the willingness to come back to the same team after a difficult moment. I hope future me is listening instead of trying to fix everything in one minute — please remind him that sometimes you need a hug before a solution. I hope I still make you feel safe enough to tell me the truth, even when it's uncomfortable. And I hope you give yourself the same compassion you so naturally give other people. We can take the next step one at a time, Aya. We don't have to solve our whole lives tonight. ♡
Look at us, baby. Another year of choosing each other, learning each other, and collecting stories nobody else would find funny in quite the same way. I hope we celebrate the big things, but I hope we also celebrate the ordinary ones: the way we handled a hard week, the time we made each other laugh when we needed it, the small kindnesses nobody else noticed. Ask future Ahmed what his favourite memory from this year is. If he says “all of them,” demand a specific answer. He's not getting away with that. Aya, thank you for being the person I get to keep discovering. Here's to the next chapter — and to the fact that somehow, I'm still completely gone for you. ♡
Open when…
These notes aren't a replacement for me being there. They're little reminders to keep until I can be. Tap whichever one you need, baby. ♡
A tiny surprise for my favourite girl. 🗝️
Aya, my love, I wanted to leave a little secret here that feels like it belongs only to us. You make even the smallest things feel special, and I hope opening this makes you smile that ridiculous, beautiful smile of yours. There are three little clues below — enough to make you think, but not enough to spoil the surprise. Take your time, clever girl. 😌💗
Enter the secret phrase to see what I saved just for you:
You figured it out, pretty girl. Now come a little closer. ❤️🔥
First of all, I need you to understand that I have thought about kissing you in person an unreasonable number of times. I would pull you close by the waist, look at you for a second like I still cannot believe you're finally right here, and then kiss you properly — slowly at first, until all that built-up missing each other turns into the kind of kiss that makes us forget what we were about to say. I'd keep one hand at your waist and the other against your cheek, and every time we pulled apart I'd look at your lips like I was already planning the next one. Because I would be, baby. 😏
And yes, I have imagined us finally having that private time together — the kind of passionate, steamy intimacy where we keep pulling each other closer, where kisses turn breathless, where we have to pause just to laugh at how long we've waited to be in the same room. I want you feeling wanted, comfortable, safe, and so caught up in us that the rest of the world can wait outside for a while. No rushing, no pressure, just mutual desire, affection, and us checking in with each other while enjoying every second we finally get together. ❤️🔥
Now, BABYGIRL. We need to discuss how you have already caught a little preview through my underwear — enough to notice the outline, apparently, but not nearly enough to satisfy that very curious imagination of yours. 😭 I know you have been wondering what the real thing looks like, and I can practically hear the questions you are trying to behave yourself about. Let us just say the little glimpse was not the full picture, and I have a feeling you would have a LOT less to say if you got the proper reveal in person. You might go all quiet and tomato-red for once… though knowing you, you would probably recover just quickly enough to start teasing me again. And no, baby, I am not giving you the full preview in writing. You will have to be patient for that one. 😏❤️🔥
When we're finally together, I want the passionate side of us, absolutely — but I also want the soft side immediately afterwards: pulling you against my chest, kissing your forehead, playing with your hair, asking if you're okay, and making sure you feel adored instead of just desired. I want to be the man who can make you blush like crazy and then make you feel completely safe in his arms. Both things can be true, baby. Especially with you. 💙💕
And if you are currently hiding your face behind your hands, I would like it noted that I have achieved the mission objective. Roblox taught us to solve puzzles; apparently, I have now become the puzzle. Your move, babygirl. 😌❤️🔥
One last thing, birthday girl ✨
If I could make one birthday wish for you, it would be that you could see yourself the way I see you: not as someone who has to prove she's worthy of love, but as the kind, sensitive, beautiful, hilarious, wonderfully human girl who has completely and hopelessly stolen my heart.
I hope this next year brings you gentleness, joy, confidence, and moments that remind you how special you are. I hope you laugh a lot. I hope you feel understood. I hope you keep being your kind, empathetic self without forgetting to save some of that kindness for yourself, too.
And selfishly, I hope it brings us closer to all the ordinary things I dream about doing with you. More memories. More laughter. More “7ota” jokes. More tomato nonsense. More of us.
Aya, my home. ♡
If I could put one feeling in your heart and make sure it stayed there, it would be this: you are so deeply loved. Not some imaginary perfect version of you. You — with your softness, your sensitivity, your humour, your kindness, your moods, your little quirks, your whole heart.
I am more in love with you than I know how to explain. When I look at you, my heart skips a beat and feels at home at the same time. When I look into your eyes, I see the future I hope to build — not because life will always be easy, but because you're the person I want to meet it with.
So happy birthday, my love. Thank you for existing. Thank you for being my favourite person to laugh with, to be soft with, and to love. I wish I could be beside you right now. Until I can, keep this little corner of the world as a reminder that somewhere, your boyfriend is smiling at his screen, thinking about his beautiful girl, and wondering how he got so lucky.
I love you. I choose you. And I still owe you a lifetime of ridiculous little jokes. ♡
Happy birthday, Aya. You are not just my favourite future, Aya. You are my only future. ❤️ 🍅❤️
